To fix this issue I open an office app and sign out from the top right profile / settings button.
Then remove the identity under
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity\Identities\
I usually logoff windows or xenapp and reopen the session. Then have them login again.
